The Classroom

October 19, 2010 at 11:56 pm (Uncategorized)

Well, Ta-da!  Finally got around to posting something on this blog.!( You’ll have to forgive me, I’m more use to posting things on my deviant along with comments on the pictures. When it comes to things like this,  I’m more than likely to neglect it. I know, I know.. BAD HABIT. I don’t even update my fb status constantly.  * Btw ,My i-tunes just started playing “when I’m 64” by the beatles and I finished my Ginger Ale ( tm.)

Anyway, time to start my weekly review about flash games… and first up.. THE CLASSROOM! ( which can be found at the following link below.)

My sister first showed me this game a few years ago, back when I was in high school; and although I forgot the actual name of it, it’s been ones of “those” games  that I can’t really forget.

The plot of the game is pretty straightforward – cheat off the geek ( the yellow ball) without being caught by the teacher ( the  large red moving ball).  The controls are just as easy to figure out; use the directional keys to move and when you’re at the geek, click the mouse to fill the “cheat” bar. After that you have to hi-tail it back to your seat in the back of the room to move on to the next level.

Sounds pretty easy, right?  Well you would be surprised ; you actually have to come up with some decent stratiges to by-pass the teacher’s gaze and have enough time to cheat off the geek.  Level 4 seems to be the trickiest since you only have ONE chance to cheat off the geek while the teacher is temporaily distracted. Miss that ,and you literally have to restart the level.

And although this game is fun, it has a pretty twisted ending ( I’ll let you find that out yourself. Lets just say, imagine what the stress of “life or death” exams can make some people do.)

If you’re looking for a flash game that has graphics like Square Enix, or even just decent graphics,  I suggest you go look somewhere else.  This game is eniterly made up of simple lines and shapes. The most complex thing about it would be the timing of the teachers movements and when certain scenes are triggered ( such as the moment in Level four). The layout doesn’t change much through out the levels except for the location of the geek and the travel pattern of the teacher.  The screen space is pretty small too; about the size of cell phone or deck of cards.  To call this game  “art” would be a very large stretch since it’s fairly simple,  but it does make you use your mind more than you would think- and it’s fun to play!

There is a squeal and prequel to “The Classroom”, but I never really got around to playing them. Maybe I’ll review one of those for next time? In any case enjoy the game guys!!

Oh by the way here’s a helpful hint ! A the bottom left corner of the “journal entry” for each level is a what looks like a title. That’s actually the password to unlock that level without playing through the others.
